Massachusetts' High Point - "Mount Greylock"

July 23rd 2004. We were on our way back from a summer trip to Vermont and decided to do the high point of Massachusetts called Mount Greylock. At 3,491 feet, you can either hike or drive up to the top. It was raining quite hard and the dark clouds and fog loomed down on Mount Greylock as we approached the small town of Adams which was at the base on the mountain. It was a student town with a quiet but cheery feel with old stately buildings mixed in the town. We decided to drive up, nearly loosing our way as the entrance to the road up the mountain was surprisingly unnoticeable as if the locals didn't want people to know about it. Winding its way to the top we reached a tall lighthouse looking building which turned out to be the Veterans War Memorial tower. With the rain and fog, it made for very little visability so after a few photos we were on our way.
